Brittany
Those who know me have seen my entrepreneurial spirit since I was a little girl. I have always been determined to own my own business but just couldn't find my passion. Who would have thought cookies would be my niche? What is funny is, unlike most people in the industry, I have not been baking for a long time. I picked this up around 2019 when I went to a cookie class that my wedding photographer was hosting. I tried it out and was hooked! I immediately went home and started creating my own recipes and designs. My brain was going wild with ideas. Shortly after this I began to get orders from family members. At the time, it was just a side hustle because I was working a full-time job. It quickly went from family members to friends to people who were recommended by others. As the orders continued to come in, I started thinking to myself maybe this could be something bigger, but I was too scared to take the leap.
Sadly, I wore myself out pretty quickly trying to keep up with all the orders, as well as working my full-time job. I was working crazy hours once I got home, and it started to take the joy out of it, so I stopped baking at that time. I knew I wanted to do something bigger with it one day, but I just didn’t know how I would get there.
Fast forward to summer of 2020, when I was 7 months pregnant with my first born and working at home due to COVID lockdowns, I started reflecting on what I wanted my future work to look like. With COVID changing the workplace at that time, I knew I wanted to do something that allowed me to continue to stay at home or at least create my own hours in order to be with my daughter as much as possible. Cookies popped back in my head! I knew maternity leave was coming up, so I said what the heck and put some feelers out that I was going to be making cookies again. There was no better time than right then to take the leap of faith. The rest is history!
I like to think what sets my cookies apart from others is my boldness. From my cookie flavors to my colors, I am nothing short of bright and bold. I love anything loud, anything sparkly. The brighter the better. I want people to see my cookies and smile because the colors and designs just make them so happy. Some people are scared of being loud but here I am jumping in headfirst.
Hannah
Dry sense of humor. Stereotypical millennial vibe. People-pleasing overachiever. That's Hannah in a nutshell. She's obsessed with her son, a three-legged rescue dog named Winston, Taylor Swift, and breakfast foods. She has a Master's degree in Healthcare Administration that she uses for her "regular" job, but her passion and creative outlet is cookies. The West Texas Queen of French macarons and certified "I didn't think liked macarons until I had yours" recipient, Hannah's teamed up with her high school bestie Brittany to bring you The Disco Dunks.
Hannah Beth grew up in Mesquite, Texas. She kept her family busy by doing everything - dancing, singing, playing all the sports she could, and even being a member of a storytelling team. Some of her favorite childhood memories were spent in the kitchen with her mom and grandmother, watching them make their signature recipes. After high school, she attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, and received a Bachelor's Degree in Missions and Bible. In 2014, she moved to Midland, Texas, where she eventually got her Master's degree in Healthcare Administration and now works full-time as the Executive Assistant for a Medical Practice group of over 200 physicians. In 2018, she tried her hand at making French macarons for her high school best friend's (and future business partner) bridal shower, and they were a hit! She didn't make another batch until she was bored during the thick of COVID-19. It took about six months to perfect the recipe, and Handmade by Hannah Beth was born! Since 2021, she's made thousands of macarons for the people of West Texas. In her spare time, you can catch Hannah Beth baking in the kitchen, watching some reality television, or serving at her church, Hope Community.
